Your resume needs to be personalized to fit your background. Every resume will have the following sections:
- Informational Heading
- Objective or Summary
- Education
- Skills
- 3-4 other headings listed (These will vary depending on experience)
You should limit the number of side headings you use between 8 and 9. The side headings you use may change from year-to-year based on your experience. Resume length should not exceed ONE page.

Informational Heading:
- Full name, including middle initial
- Address (street, PO Box, apartment #, etc.)
- City, State, Zip Code
- Cell phone with area code
- Email Address

- Explain your goal or the position you are seeking
- Reason for sending your resume
- Example – To gain part-time employment in __________
- Example – To gain acceptance into a college or trade program
- Example – To obtain an internship in the field of ___________

- City, State of the School
- Anticipated Graduation Date – Month & Year
- Grade Point Average - % (if 85% or higher)
- Essential course work (i.e. concentration courses, accelerated/honors courses, Gemini, AP, IB or PLTW)

- Explain your traits, skills and capabilities (i.e. team player, organized, self-starter, focused, time management, dependable, hard worker) in two short phrases.
- Include both soft skills and technical skills
- May include foreign language proficiencies (fluent in more than one language)

- List your paid work experience including job title, dates worked, and duties and responsibilities (i.e. Wegmans, Front End Cashier)

- List any non-paid experience with job title, dates worked, and duties and responsibilities (i.e. Wayne Elementary, Intern)
- This is something you probably won’t have until you are at least a sophomore
- List any non-paid experience with job title, dates worked, and duties and responsibilities (i.e. Wayne Elementary, Intern)

- List any school sports and clubs participated in with dates (i.e. Art Club, etc.)
- List any clubs or activities participated in outside of school with dates (i.e. Boy Scouts, dance, karate, fishing, church youth groups, etc.

- List any non-paid community work for a formal organization with dates (i.e. Pines of Peace, Boys/Girls Scouts, American Cancer Society, Wayne Central Football Booster Club, etc.)

- List any awards or honors received in or out of school with dates (i.e. Honor Roll, Citizenship Award, Wayne Undergraduate Awards, National Honor Society, Academic Excellence, Black Belt, Eagle Scout, etc.)

- List any special licenses received from an organization (i.e. CPR, EMT, Cosmetology)

- List any specific programs you are capable of using (i.e. Microsoft Suite, Adobe Photoshop, Google Platform, Autodesk Inventor, OnShape, MasterCam, Java, etc.)

- This information will be included on a separate document for future use. Think of 3-4 people to use as contacts that are not family and friends. Be sure you have the correct spelling of their names, their job title and the company name of where they work along with their phone number, address, and email.
