Guest speakers are a great resource for teachers and students. Guest speakers provide an opportunity for students to learn first hand how the curriculum they are learning in a particular class relates to a specific career field. In addition, it provides a wonderful opportunity to network with the community.

Guest speakers can be utilized in many ways, from formal presentations to hands-on activities. Some topics guest speakers can cover are:

• Typical Work Day

• Education, background and trianing needed for their career field

• Future outlook for their career

• Different facets of their job and what they like best and least

• Clarify misconceptions about the field

• How the content from the class they are visiting is utilized in their career field
